Aus HP TouchPad 3G wird 4G, hat aber nichts mit LTE zu tun!

Gerade erst hat Hewlett Packard sein erstes Tablet TouchPad 3G auf den Markt gebracht, da kündigt das Unternehmen bereits eine überarbeitete Version. Richtig gelesen! Keinen Nachfolger, sondern eine verbesserte Version, also raus aus dem Beta Stadium, rein in die 1.0 Version. So oder so ähnlich kommt die Ankündigung bei sehr vielen Tablet interessierten im Netz an.

Viel geändert wird aber an dem aktuellen Modell TouchPad 3G nicht. Lediglich der verbaute Qualcom-SoC Prozessor wird ausgetauscht. Statt 1,2 sind dann 1,5 Gigahertz im Inneren des Tablets am Werkeln. Weitere Änderung betrifft die Mobilfunkkommunikation. Das webOS-Tablet erhält die „4G“ Unterstützung, was aber rein Garnichts mit dem aktuellen Mobilfunkstandard der nächsten Generation „LTE“ zu tun hat. Die überarbeitete Version wird sich lediglich mit dem aufgebohrten Datenübertragungsstandard HSPA+ verstehen.

Zu welchem Preis und wann genau das HP TouchPad 4G verfügbar sein soll, hat das Unternehmen noch nicht verraten. Fest steht nur, dass der Verkaufsstart nach den Sommerferien zuerst in den USA und nur exklusiv über AT-T erfolgen soll.

With support for Adobe® Flash Player Beta; video calling capabilities; the ability to print wirelessly to compatible networked HP printers; Quickoffice to view Microsoft® Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files; and Adobe Reader to view PDFs, HP TouchPad is a true productivity powerhouse. The HP TouchPad 4G on the AT&T mobile broadband network will be available through HP commercial channels, AT&T Business Services and major retailers. Specific pricing and dates will be available at a later date.
